📱 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 gets major discounts ahead of the iPhone Duo launch
⚙️ Technical summary
Samsung’s foldable phone lineup, especially the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its higher-end Z Fold 8 Ultra, is seeing noticeable price cuts as the launch of the iPhone Duo approaches. The two phones come with a “passport” design style and improved features compared with previous generations, with fundamental differences in the display, cameras, and processors between the two versions. These price cuts represent a unique opportunity for foldable-phone fans right now.
🔋 Prime Day discounts: a standout budget-friendly opportunity to buy the Z Fold 8
Amid the heated competition between Samsung and Apple, October discounts during Prime Day stand out as a smart move by Samsung to attract buyers before the release of the new iPhone Duo phones.
- The original price of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 was $1,899.99, and it has now dropped to $1,549.99 on Amazon, and $1,649.99 at Best Buy.
- The Z Fold 8 Ultra version, which features improved cameras and had an original price of $2,099.99, is currently available for $1,699.99, with a discount of $150 off the previous best price.
These discounts represent the biggest price cuts the series has seen so far, making them among the best opportunities to buy an advanced foldable phone at a reasonable price.
Scheduled discounts before the launch of major rivals give Samsung a strong position in the foldable-phone market, especially as users look for the best value for money.
📸 Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs. Z Fold 8 Ultra: what has changed here?
Although both phones use the foldable “passport” form factor, the Ultra version excels in several key areas.
-
Display:
- The Z Fold 8 features a 4:3 aspect ratio on the inner display, providing a comfortable experience for reading books and watching content.
- The Ultra version offers improved displays with excellent picture quality and a design that tries to reduce the appearance of the crease that usually affects foldable screens.
-
Cameras:
- The Z Fold 8 Ultra includes improved cameras, making it the ideal choice for fans of photography using foldable phones.
- The cameras in the standard version are good, but not at the same level as the Ultra.
- Performance and processor:
- The Ultra version supports an improved processor and an improved battery, which raises the overall user experience and makes it technically stronger compared with the Z Fold 8.
The Z Fold 8 is a balanced option that offers a comfortable experience for the price, while the Z Fold 8 Ultra is an advanced device for tech enthusiasts who want the best specifications in the foldable-phone category.
⚙️ User experience: 4:3 display and a comfortably compact size
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 stands out for its small and comfortable size, which makes it different from earlier foldable phones that were somewhat large or heavy. The distinctive 4:3 screen ratio helps improve the content-viewing experience, whether reading, browsing, or watching video.
This balance between a full-size screen and easy portability is a qualitative leap in foldable-phone design, making it closer to the usual daily-use model used to the difference between traditional phones and foldable phones.
The foldable phones’ “passport-style” shape gives a different frame for interacting with apps, in addition to a feel and dimensions suitable for one-handed use.
📱 Competition with the iPhone Duo: who has the upper hand?
With the launch of the iPhone Duo phones that target the same market approaching, the discounts on the Z Fold 8 appear to be Samsung’s way of strengthening its position in the foldable and multitasking smartphone segment.
Samsung offers a phone that combines foldability with an internal display that provides a more comfortable viewing and content-consumption experience compared with traditional iPhone screens. And with the discounted price, the Z Fold 8 may attract an audience looking for a more interactive and open experience compared with iOS.
Samsung is expanding its options and providing more advanced foldable phones at competitive prices, at a time when the iPhone Duo is competing to deliver a different experience with a greater focus on ecosystem integration and software.
📸 Is the Z Fold 8 Ultra worth the investment?
If the camera and performance are your main focus, then the Z Fold 8 Ultra is the strongest option among foldable phones. Thanks to an improved processor and a redesigned screen that works to reduce screen creases that cause annoyance in previous versions, the Ultra delivers a smoother experience.
Despite its higher price than the standard version, its current price cut narrows the gap and helps make it more appealing to users who want advanced imaging technology in a foldable design.
